SEO friendly articles are essential if you aimed to get massive traffic from organic searches to your new site.
It’s a great plan, and I also would say that writing a blog is an excellent opportunity to express yourself.
Unfortunately, there is a problem with the desired traffic. People won’t come to read your articles just out of the blue, not at all.
Except if you pay more attention to create SEO friendly articles on your blog.
You know, when you write a blog post, it’s just 15% of the whole creation process. The rest 85% is editing and SEO optimisation.
Creating SEO friendly articles is crucial if you want to establish your presence on the web.
It makes your content more visible to search engines and for your audience.
But you must accept that search engine optimisation is a long-term process.
It requires patience and consequence.
That’s why it’s critical to write SEO friendly articles from the first day you launched your blog.

Research the best keywords
The first step is to find the appropriate keywords to your SEO friendly articles.
It’s essential because your keywords can help the search engines to understand what your contents are about.
Your keyword is the basis of your title and your content.
Fortunately, plenty of tools available for you to find phrases that are often searched on the web.
These tools help you to find and analyze the performance of the keywords you plan to pick up.
Use long-tail keywords
I recommend using long-tail keywords because they’re more precise and you target a specific audience.
For instance, “social media” as a keyword is not precise enough because it’s a huge topic and you must compete with sites like Wikipedia or Forbes.
In this article, I wrote about SEO friendly articles.
If I would have used only “SEO” as a keyword, then people would never find my site in Google because thousands of stronger websites have already done it. I would land on page 300 somewhere.
On the other hand, SEO is an extended topic that I couldn’t work out in one article properly.
So, I was seeking a more specific option, and I found the tempting “SEO friendly articles” keywords.
Let’s look the difference between “SEO” and “SEO friendly articles.”
In case of “SEO friendly articles,” you expect a blog post about how to optimize your blog articles for SEO.
But you don’t get information about SEO in general.
You can see the search result of the keyword “SEO”:
The average monthly search is very nice, but the competition is medium. If you check the first page on Google, you can see which competitors are staying there.
Wikipedia, Moz or Search Engine Land have a high page- and domain authority.
My long-tail keyword “SEO friendly articles” looked already much better in Google Keyword Planner.
Thus, I have more chance to get the attention of these people that are searching my keywords.
When I checked the first hits on Google, the result looked better than in the case of “SEO.”
I need to face with sites with a lower page- and domain authority hence my keyword was an excellent opportunity for this content.
Write an amazing content
When you write an article, it’s crucial to write well without any grammar or spelling errors. If you use your voice as much as you can then your content will be more original. Original content is more compelling and increases the engagement rate.
Use Grammarly as proofreading tool to check if your text is flawless.
But the perfect grammar doesn’t enough to create SEO friendly articles, not at all.
There are other ingredients to improve the quality of your content like:
1. Increase the length of your content
When I say long-form content that means at least 1500 words but 2000 or even more.
SerpIQ released a study about how articles perform on Google depending on the length of the content.
The top 10 results don’t have less than 2000 words. The length of the content namely has an impact on the SEO performance.
That’s why to write SEO friendly articles means much work, exactly to say, at least 1500 words.
2. Take care of the readability
You have already read articles on the internet that weren’t easy to understand because the text was too dense and wasn’t transparent.
Google loves pages with clear structure and transparency.
Don’t use complicated foreign words.
Except you write for a medical magazine, you can avoid the awkward expressions.
Think of your readers. Is your text clear for them?
So, if you write an SEO friendly articles, pay attention to the following points:
· Write breezy and transparent text
· Choose a readable font
· Use more subheadings (h2, h3)
· Avoid foreign expressions
· Write short sentences
· Use a lot of paragraphs
I use Hemingway App to check and improve the readability of my articles.
It helps to shorten the unnecessary length sentences and recommend more straightforward phrases for the compound expressions. Aim to get at least Grade 6 to be sure your text is readable.
3. Keep the focus on your primary topic
People digress often. I noticed many times when I was writing an article that I lost the focus of my topic.
I shifted into other themes that didn’t cover the keywords precisely I choose.
But you’re reading this article because you want to know how to write an SEO friendly article but not about SEO in general.
To avoid this mistake, I create bullet points about the primary subject I want to work out before I start to write.
The frame helps you to keep the focus on the central question of the article.
4. Use images, videos or audio
To write SEO friendly articles is not just about the text.
These ingredients help your readers to understand the topic clearer, and increase the user experience.
Your images and videos will also appear on Google, and these elements also lead more traffic to your blog.
Neil Patel is an online marketing guru, and he always uses excellent images in his articles. I didn’t need to search long to find a picture of him on the first page.
I also include as many images as I can in my articles because besides the advantages as mentioned earlier; it improves the keyword presence.
I talk about later more.
But before you would download plenty of images for your next post, you need pay attention to the quality.
People love multimedia but only the quality and moreover the original elements.
It means that if you can take photos or create videos yourself then do it.
It’s outstanding, and the originality improves the engagement rate.
Use your keyword many times
You already know how to find the best keywords for your articles and why it’s incredibly significant.
You have seen an example of the keyword research, and now I’m going to show you where to put them on your blog post.
1. Include your keyword many times in your article
If you focus on a keyword, then it makes sense to place it into your text as many times as you can.
As you see, I use my keyword in every paragraph neither.
But in the sentences where it’s fit and doesn’t look forced, I do it.
If you wrote 1000 words and you use the keyword 30 or 40 times over the article, then it looks overused. Google will rank it as a spammy content.
Sandra on her site conversationminded.com posted an article about Facebook ads and she included the keyword 19 times. The article is 2596 words long.
2. Add your keyword to your title
The keyword in the title is incredibly important because it helps people to understand your topic.
When it’s possible, use your keyword at the beginning of the title because your page will get a better ranking from Google.
3. Include in URL
The URL is the third place to include your keywords.
It’s your permalink on WordPress.
In my last article, I wrote about my favorite tools for online businesses, and I changed the URL accordingly.
An explicit URL looks like this “http://davemes.com/tools-for-online-businesses” and Google finds your keyword in it.
In addition to your audience evaluates it much reliable than a meaningless URL like this: “http://davemes.com/post83757863546523726320.”
Searching for productivity tools, I found the post on Business Insider. You can see how they included the keyword in the URL.
It looks good, right?
4. Use in the meta description
The meta description is the section that you see in Google under the title of the pages.
It’s a summary of your article. I say short because it doesn’t make sense to write more than 160 characters because Google will cut the rest.
If you don’t write a meta description, Google takes the first sentences of your post, and maybe that doesn’t summarize your topic precisely.
It’s great place to include your keyword. Google will bold it on the result pages like by Smart Passive Income.
5. Include in headings (h2, h3)
Headings are great to improve the readability of your page because it leads your readers.
It also helps Google to grasp the message of longer articles. Include your keywords in your subheadings if you can but don’t force if it doesn’t work.
For example, Melyssa Griffin has written an excellent post about Pinterest SEO, and she also used the keyword “Pinterest” in a subheading.
Optimize your images
I have already mentioned that Google and your audience like colorful contents.
Use at least one image in your articles but depending on your topic you can take even more.
Before you put them into your post optimised them because it also improves your SEO.
In WordPress, if you upload images, set the name and the Alt text aka alternative text as well.
Alt text is a description of the image, and it’s visible only in the HTML code.
Alt text helps search engines to understand the content of the multimedia elements.
Here is an example of my blog.
The name initially was “IMG_0711.jpg“, and I changed to “man-working-with-laptop.jpg.”
The alternative text is “How to write SEO friendly article.”
In HTML looks so:

One of the best recipe to improve your SEO ranking is to use as many relevant links as you can.
Links help people to get a more comprehensive content about your topic and keep the readers on your site as well.
If people spend more time on your site, Google ranks your page better.
There are three types of linking:
1. Internal links
Internal links are pointing to other posts of your website.
Using a lot of internal links can establish a high site structure, and this is an incredible value for search engines.
Take care about that your links refer people only to relevant topics that are connecting to your article.
2. Outbound links (external)
External links refer people to other websites.
It’s not the best for your blog, you could think.
But nobody can work out a topic entirely. Other successful sites can complete your content very well.
For instance, I mentioned keywords like “organic search” or “domain authority” above, but I didn’t explain what they exactly mean.
Instead, I linked them to other reliable websites where you get the explanation about them.
If I had expounded these expressions, maybe you wouldn’t get answers to your questions, and you would leave my site quickly.
But with external quality links, my readers get a valuable content complemented with other sources.
So, if you have already narrowed your topic but there would be exciting facts, statistics or explanations then use outbound links.
Using MozBar, you find pages with a high page- and domain authority and you can point your links to these sites.

3. Fix your broken links
Taking care of your links is a permanent work.
Sometimes websites disappear, and your hyperlinks turn into broken links.
Broken links have a negative impact on your SEO ranking.
On WordPress, you can use the Broken Link Checker plugin to check regularly the functionality of your links.
The other great tool is the Dead Link Checker.
So, if you find broken links on your site, fix them as soon as possible to avoid the negative impact.
Improve your page speed
Google has an algorithm that evaluates websites how fast they are, and on the other hand, slow pages decrease the user experience too. People don’t want to wait for your poorly optimized website.
So, if your blog doesn’t load quickly it surely won’t land on the first result pages.
The page speed between 1s to 3s can already cause 32% bouncing probability. If the site slower the bouncing rate is much more.
I’m sure; you don’t want to increase the bouncing rate.
Google has already announced that the mobile page speed also a ranking factor.
So, if you work on your website speed, pay attention to the loading time of mobile pages as well.
Update your content regularly
If you wrote an article, it doesn’t mean that you don’t need work on it later. Everything is changing, and you always learn new things.
That’s why it’s critical to make small changes in your articles and complete them with actual content.
Google regularly check the actuality of the pages, and if you make updates frequently, it also helps to get a better position on the result pages.

Fortunately, we don’t need to keep in mind everything about SEO when we write an article.
Yoast is one of the best WordPress SEO plugins that help you to do everything I have already mentioned above.
After you installed the tool, you see below your article the sections that help to make SEO friendly your blog post.
It helps you to write a meta description, an appropriate title.
I always use Yoast to be sure my article is ready to publish.
